Math Monday

math monday

mathsbananas

I’m getting better with the days. Granted it’s 1 a.m. (sort of) but for my purposes it’s still Monday night. I just managed to steal some minutes at the end of a rather longish day, and now it’s time to do the math.

  • 1 new listing on Etsy finally! Oh yeah, this banana has risen from the Etsy dead. I’ve managed to locate my beads, and supplies but the frames I use to take photos with the jewelry are still in the mysterious box no. 7 which is nowhere near me, right now.
Caution: not edible!

  • 6 is the number of boxes I have unpacked. You might be wondering what’s taking so long — I keep going on and on about boxes. I should be done already, right? Well not quite. I’ve just moved to my apartment and it will soon undergo major renovation, so I’m not too quick with unpacking things that don’t need to be out of their boxes yet. It’s going to be a long while before I manage to call this place my home, but I love changes, and boy am I excited.
  • 5-digit number, which I dare not mention, is the cost of the whole renovation. I was doing the math earlier this evening along with the carpenter. I’m quite optimistically looking beyond the big sum of expenses and envisioning the big change and long-term investment. Wouldn’t you?
  • 1.5 job interviews for my sister. The .5 is for the second part of the interview which involves some hands-on creativity tomorrow with a live brief (by the way, my sister’s a graphic designer / illustrator and she designs anything plain bananas you see). I’m hoping you can cross your fingers too.
  • 1 new pair of earrings that I have yet to list. The perfect way to end a long day of numbers.
Look beyond the bad lighting

Coming soon, a photo of the kitchen I’ve chosen and my clean desk. Ok, I’ll sneak in one of the sea from my balcony too.

How was your week in numbers?

Plain Bananas Has Friends

Plain Bananas Has Friends

Plain Bananas Has Friends

Are you moody? Stressed out? In love? A little confused about things? Or downright creative?

I’ll be the first to admit that I can be all of those things at once, and I can play that off by saying I’m a little bit complex. Mitsy, from ArtMind, understands this. In fact, I’m suspecting she’s a pretty complex character herself, because let me tell you, she sure knows her emotions.

At least 99 of them, for sure.

What am I on about? It’s Friday (yes, it’s really Friday today! Finally caught up with the days in blogosphere) and I want you to meet this extraordinary artist.

Meet Artmind

Meet Artmind

She’s inspired by anything happy and has a keen eye on human emotion. In fact she portrays feelings so well, I’m starting to suspect that there’s actually nothing that complex about it.

This bubbly artist, loves laughing and her witty little descriptions of her products are a testament to that. They are as amusing as the items themselves!

But anyway, enough from me. Let me pass you on to Mitsy, who has a few things she’d like to tell you.

My name is…Mitsy – not a common name and lots of people tend to call me Misty – it always makes me smile!

I make…things from clay, felt and paper. I recently took up the love addiction of yarn.

I’m inspired by…daily life: everything and everyone can be a source of inspiration so watch out!

Stress - 1 - Mini art feeling

Stress - 1 - Mini art feeling

I cannot live without…chocolate (hope my partner is not reading this).

My goal…is to lead a happy life – preferably a happy handmade life.

An item I’ve made that was hard to let go…I have a hard time to let go & some pieces, I will never sell.

I create because…it’s a life neccesity.

I wish I…lived in the middle of nowhere surrounded with all that I love.

If I could learn another art it would be…sewing – need to get my hands on a sewing machine.

I think…usually happy thoughts.

I blog because…I hope that it inspires people.

One day…I’ll learn to like mussels.

I started…a book too long ago – should spent more time reading.

Restless - 1 - Mini art feeling

I always…need coffee in the morning.

If I were a color I would be…green – although I love red, I think I’m too modest to be red.

I love…food & cooking – hmmmmmmm.

My full-time job…is not anymore. I like to combine a part-time job with part-time ceramics.

In a nutshell…I’m a happy person living a happy life with my happy parter & happy cat.

In a bigger nutshell..I have still lots of things that I want to accomplish in life.

Interview with a banana

Musings

I love interviews, but usually I’m the one who gives them. So this was a great surprise from neiradodhmiourgies who tagged me. It’s not a real tête-à-tête, but hey, better than nothing!

Here it goes:

  • What are you wearing today? A breezy dress I got from my favorite Indian store in pink shades and turquoise.
  • What’s for dinner? Good question.
  • If you weren’t a human being, what would you like to be? The verb “to write”.
  • What’s the last thing you bought? On Etsy: Matouenpeluche’s awesome drawings; outside of Etsy, some colorful sandals.
  • What are you listening to right now? The sound of the fan whirring and street noises. I needed a dose of silence and this is as close as it gets.
  • If you were a flower you would be…a pink rose, in all its triteness.
  • What is your favorite ice-cream flavour? Just one?!
  • What do you think of the person who tagged you? She’s a fairy at heart, and I hope I get to meet her soon!
  • If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be? I would have to say rural France — I dream of an old cottage in the French countryside.

  • If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go? To Philly to surprise Gisela. She’d F-R-E-A-K!
  • Which language do you want to learn? Spanish, if I ever find a goddamn tutor!
  • What’s your favorite quote (for now)? Dreaming is believing.
  • What is your favorite colour? I love all colors but pastel shades of pink and plum are yummy.
  • What is your favorite piece of clothing in your own wardrobe? An aquamarine 20s inspired dress with lace.
  • What is your dream job? To own an agrotourist hotel at a village somewhere and write in my free time.
  • If you could invent any useful invention, what would it be? Something to allow teleporting — it would save everyone so much money!
  • If you had £100 (165$) now, what would you spend it on? Enjoying my upcoming holidays to Berlin and Paris even more!
  • Do you admire any one’s style? No one specifically, but I’m inspired by some.
  • Describe your personal style? Shabby chic.
  • What are you going to do after this? Seriously getting away from my computer!
  • What are your favourite movies? Too many to list here. I’m a big fan of drama. Oh yeah.
  • What’s your favorite fruit? Plums, nectarines, strawberries, all kinds of berries in fact…
  • What inspires you? Books, conversations, people, nature, writing.
  • Your favorite book? I love entirely too many, but two of my recent top faves were Ali Smith’s “Hotel World” and Markus Zusak’s “The Book Thief”.
  • Do you collect something? Stickers, stationery sets, books, kinder surprise figurines (this was something my boyfriend started, actually).
  • Are you a home body or do you prefer to be out? A little bit of both, just to keep the balance.
  • Do you have any pets? If it were up to me, I’d have a zoo here.
  • Are you a country girl or City Vamp? Country girl to the bone. That City Vamp allure has lost its charm.
  • Tell us the story of your nickname. Originally inspired by Banana Yoshimoto. I read her book “Kitchen” and kept thinking how cool it is that her first name is Banana. Me, I’m just plain bananas. And the nickname was born!
